Meet Kevin!

Kevin Antonio, born on January 17th, 1997, is an original VISEDAL scholar. He is the middle of the 5 siblings in his family; older sister Ninoska, older brother Carlos, younger sister Kimberly, and younger brother Didier. Kevin really enjoys playing soccer, hanging out with friends and family, and watching television. He is a hard worker, and helps his family whenever he can. He also tries to save his own money in order to buy clothes and shoes from time to time. We have watched Kevin grow up to be a young man, and hope to see him continue to care for his family as he has so far. Kevin hopes to be successful when he grows up so he can help those in need.

Hello! Dear sponsor, I hope you are doing well. This year was wonderful and I also studied a lot. I thank you so much for continuing to support me and for the blessing you send to us. Thank you. I had a great Christmas and I hope you had a great one too. And a Happy New Year. God bless.

We’re excited about Kevin Antonio. He has been working hard during the weekdays and doing well in Saturday school. Kevin continues to be a leader in his family, and he is doing his best to lead well. We are working closely with him and his family to bring them closer together as a unit. Sometimes for Kevin and his older brother Carlos it has been easier for them to avoid each other. Carlos helps his mom working in the markets, and Kevin tries to find other work in construction or other odd jobs. Kevin has really shown a lot of growth this year in wanting to restore his relationships with his family, and one big step VISEDAL has taken is hiring Rocío, a psychologist, to work with the kids. Kevin has proven to be one of the most engaged scholars with Rocío and he really enjoys meeting with her. We are really excited to see how she is able to help him and what Kevin will take away from his time with her.

Kevin Antonio finished a difficult school year, and this year he hopes to improve. While his grades were not bad, he struggled because of things going on outside of school. Kevin had been hanging around some bad influences and got into some trouble. He fortunately was able to leave them behind and finish the school year. Kevin is a leader in his family and recognizes that he needs to be a good example for his siblings. In spite of being the third-oldest, behind Ninoska and Carlos, Kevin has a very big influence on his siblings. We are encouraged by Kevin’s attitude and desire to become a responsible young man. This year Kevin will be working during the week and attending school on Saturdays. (Saturday school is very common in Nicaragua, where families often need the help of their older children in order to get by.)

Hi friends, how are you? I hope you’re well. I’m working hard to do well in my classes, even though they are a challenge for me. But I have to commit myself to study. I’m doing the best I can to better my grades and to improve myself everyday. I play a lot of soccer with my neighborhood friends and I help my mom with the things around the house, whatever she needs. I’m always studying, and I hope to see you soon. Thanks for supporting us in our studies and in everything we need. I thank you all, and may God bless you.

Hi, how are you all? Here in Nicaragua I am working hard to keep moving forward so that you all will be proud of me. I hope that you are all well and I want to tell you that one day I was disrespectful and I hope that you please forgive me. I am very sorry. Thank you for the support you've given me and my family. One more thing. You all like my family, and I pray that God would give us all wisdom and knowledge and courage to keep going step by step. In December I had a great time because you spent a lot of time with us. It's always sad for me to see you leave but you will always be in my heart, and in my soul. I will always be thinking of you all. I love you very much. May God bless you and guard you always wherever you are.

Kevin is a smart young man who can definitely be very goofy at times. He attended two of July’s English lessons and enjoyed learning and conversing (in English) with his cousin, Isaac. Kevin told us that he wants to do better as a student and as a person, receive good grades, and prove to the world that he can do better.

How are you all? I'm doing well here, and everything seems to be getting better. I just want to tell you that it was really great to see you all again. You made me really happy. The short time you were here with us we had a really fun time, and I feel like we are one big family. Thank you for your unconditional support. We're about to start school again, and we have almost everything ready. Thanks for making that possible. May God bless you and always take care of you.

Hi dear friends, I hope God blesses all of you. These days have been really rainy, so much so that they've sometimes had to cancel classes at school. Now things are calmer since it hasn't rained as much lately. I'm really happy because classes are soon to end, and, more importantly, you all are coming! When you are here we always have a really happy time.

Hello esteemed friends. I hope you are all doing well. I miss you a lot. I had a great time playing and sharing time with you, to the point where I didn't want you to ever leave. I love all of you, and you're always in my prayers. I'm studying hard, and I'm also part of the school band. I practice playing the tamborine in the afternoons. We are also preparing for our exams. In the house we are doing well, but we miss all of you. Thanks for the packets you gave us, and for taking care of us. I love you all very much!

He says that they are his favorite subjects, and that he loves learning more about them both. He is growing everyday and is getting stronger and stronger. He had a wonderful time participating in the school band with his siblings as they celebrated Patriots' day in school.
